Williams Company to build $20 million-plus shopping center near downtown Raleigh

Construction manager Williams Company Southeast says it will break ground soon for the new Wegmans-anchored Midtown East retail center near downtown Raleigh, with a contract greater than $20 million.

Regency Centers, based in Jacksonville, FL., is developing the project in partnership with ITB Holdings LLC, Chapel Hill.

Located on Wake Forest Rd. near the I-440 Beltline, the center will feature a 120,000 sq. ft. Wegmans Food Market, an adjacent 400-car elevated parking deck, plus five additional retail buildings.

The project was designed by the Raleigh-Durham office of Gensler. McAdams Company in Durham, serves as the civil engineer. The center will open in the second quarter of 2019.

The employee-owned contractor, based in Orlando, FL, specializes in retail, senior living, industrial and educational projects, and says it is currently licensed in 15 states from Texas to Maryland.

Operating units include Williams Company Building Division, Williams Company Southeast and Williams Company Tampa.
