Turner Construction Co. has been selected to lead construction of Sacramento Republic FC’s new 12,000-seat soccer stadium, a project officials say will serve as a catalyst for civic and economic development in the city’s downtown core.

The stadium is scheduled to break ground in late summer 2025, with an expected opening in 2027. Once completed, it will host Republic FC matches and add nearly 40 major events annually to Sacramento’s entertainment calendar.

“This is more than a stadium — it’s a commitment to the city’s future,” said Drake Costa, vice president and general manager at Turner Construction. “We’re proud to join with Wilton Rancheria and Republic FC to build a venue that’s grounded in community, rooted in history and built for Sacramento’s future.”

The stadium will be located in the Railyards, a downtown redevelopment zone. In addition to soccer matches, it will host concerts, festivals and civic events.

Turner’s past projects include high-profile sports facilities such as the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, SoFi Stadium in Inglewood and TQL Stadium in Cincinnati. The company emphasized its experience in delivering fan-first designs, sustainable infrastructure and long-term economic impact.

The project is expected to generate more than 1,200 construction jobs and contribute more than $240 million to the local economy. Turner and Republic FC are also partnering on workforce development and local business engagement initiatives aimed at providing lasting community benefits.

Season ticket memberships and premium seating packages will go on sale later this year.
