ACI young professionals attend Emerging Leaders Alliance conference

Six young professionals represented the American Concrete Institute (ACI) at the Emerging Leaders Alliance conference in Pittsburgh from Sept. 15-17.

The conference, now in its 16th year, is a partnership of engineering and science-based organizations that provides leadership training for young professionals. The event offers advanced training in management, personal branding, problem-solving, and presentation skills.

The ACI representatives were:

  • Emma Zhang, George Mason University, Fairfax, Va.
  • Cesario Tavares, ICON, San Marcos, Texas
  • Pravin Saraswatula, Texas A&M University, Bryan, Texas
  • Gourav Patodi, Brindley Engineering, Lisle, Ill.
  • Angel Perez Irizarry, WJE, Northbrook, Ill.
  • Manuel Zamora, Amrize, Lakeville, Minn.

Applicants were required to have less than eight years of industry experience and submitted a resume, a nomination letter, and essay questions. This is the seventh year the American Concrete Institute has participated in the conference.

Kanette Worlds, ACI Student, Faculty, and Young Professional Activities Coordinator, also attended as a partner representative.

Other conference association partners include The American Institute of Mining Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers (AIME), Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST), International Erosion Control Association (IECA), Society for Mining Metallurgy, & Exploration (SME), Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS).
