Griffin Electric supports Construction Inclusion Week with diversity, training focus

HOLLISTON, Mass. — Wayne J. Griffin Electric, Inc. is supporting Construction Inclusion Week, highlighting its commitment to promoting opportunities in the trades and providing access to the construction industry.

The electrical contractor, which has operated in New England and the Southeast for nearly five decades , said it aims to help grow the skilled trade workforce and enhance the experience for all industry professionals.

In a press release, the company stated its efforts include working closely throughout the year with schools and organizations for women, people of color, veterans, and historically disadvantaged communities to educate and recruit those with unique skills and perspectives. Griffin Electric also partners with other contractors to highlight trade opportunities to diverse backgrounds.

“Construction Inclusion Week is an important reminder that the success of the company and the future of the industry rely heavily on the cultivation of highly skilled electrical craft workers,” the company stated.

A central part of the company’s strategy is its fully accredited, in-house Apprenticeship Training Program, which it promotes as a debt-free alternative to traditional schooling. The four-level program is offered at the company’s Holliston headquarters and its regional offices in Alabama, Georgia, and North Carolina.

Apprentices earn compensation, receive full benefits, and gain 8,000 hours of field experience under the supervision of a licensed journeyperson, according to the release. They are also eligible for wage increases every six months based on grades and work performance.

Founded in 1978, Griffin Electric employs nearly 1,500 individuals. The company was ranked 25th in Engineering News-Record’s (ENR) 2024 top 50 national electrical contractors and first among electrical contractors in New England.
