The Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors of North Carolina (PHCCNC) has reported on its legislative conference in Washington DC on June 13 and 14.
“The NC contingent was Joel Long, Dave Boda and his new safety officer, Melissa Richards, and Jim Pendergrass,” the PHCCNC newsletter reported. “We had the pleasure of seeing congresswoman Virginia Foxx at the Legislative Reception on Tuesday evening, and during our visits on Wednesday were also able to speak with Sen. Richard Burr.”
The PHCCNC delegation addressed these issues:
- Re-authorization of the Perkins Act, with an increase in funding, to help schools implement or expand technical education programs;
- Request that Congress step in where possible to help rein in the overreach of regulatory agencies;
- Requested congressional support of the Energy Policy and Conservation Act Reform bill that is circulating. This Act impacts a number of regulatory activities that directly affect our contractors, as well as us as citizens; and
- Tax reform.
“It’s time for y’all to get the job done now that you have ALL THREE branches of government, because back home we’re tired of hearing excuses,” the newsletter quoted Long as saying to the Republican members.
