The U.S. Senate has approved nearly $120 million in federal funding for public safety and infrastructure projects across South Carolina as part of the second fiscal 2026 appropriations package.

The Senate passed the measure Thursday by an 82-15 vote. U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, a Republican and member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, said he submitted multiple requests for South Carolina projects that were included in the bill.

The funding includes money for law enforcement equipment and public safety improvements, as well as water, stormwater and flood-control infrastructure.

Among the allocations are $1.2 million for police equipment for the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, $396,000 for public safety improvements in the Town of Irmo and $300,000 for police equipment in Myrtle Beach.

Water and infrastructure funding includes $4.4 million for the Laurens County Water and Sewer Commission to enhance water quality and $1.6 million for the Town of Chapin to upgrade drinking water infrastructure.

The City of North Myrtle Beach will receive $28 million to construct ocean outfalls to improve flood management, while Calhoun and Orangeburg counties will receive a combined $22.5 million to expand water infrastructure.

Additional funding includes $9.3 million for stormwater management in Charleston, $4.6 million for similar projects in Mount Pleasant and $500,000 for the South Carolina Ports Authority to conduct a navigation feasibility study.

The funding will be distributed once the legislation is enacted as part of the fiscal 2026 appropriations process.
