Thomas Construction Group and the Columbus Regional Healthcare System have broken ground on a new medical office building in Leland that will expand outpatient services for Brunswick County. The two-storey, 69,963-sq. ft. CRHS Advanced Care – Leland facility will consolidate a wide range of services under one roof, including an ambulatory surgery centre, imaging, urology, orthopedics, primary care, women’s health, gastroenterology, infusion services and a central lab. Officials say bringing multiple specialties together in one location is intended to improve access to care and streamline patient experience.

The building will use a concrete tilt-wall exterior supported by deep foundations, a construction method Thomas has used on other healthcare projects in the Southeast. The company says the approach supports speed, precision and long-term durability.

“At Thomas, we are rooted in building environments that elevate the patient experience,” Chris Reid, president of Thomas Construction Group, said in a statement. “We are honoured to support Columbus Regional Healthcare System in bringing expanded, modern care capabilities to the Brunswick County community.”

Thomas Construction Group is serving as construction manager and says it will apply its healthcare project experience, safety practices and collaborative planning to the development. Construction will continue through completion, with the facility designed to support evolving patient and provider needs in the region.
