Turner Construction has broken ground on Republic FC Stadium at the Railyards — launching construction of a transformational sports and entertainment venue and marking a historic homecoming for Sacramento County’s only federally recognized tribe.
The groundbreaking comes after years of collaboration and commitment between Wilton Rancheria, Republic FC, and the broader Sacramento community.
Pre-construction work is already underway, including grading and utility preparation. In addition, bidding has begun on key project elements, with Turner Construction serving as the general contractor.
Local contractors, trades, and suppliers interested in participating in the project are encouraged to visit Turner Construction’s website for more information.
Today’s ceremony date carries special meaning. On Aug. 18, 1958, the California Rancheria Termination Act was signed into law, resulting in the loss of federal recognition for Wilton Rancheria and 40 other tribal nations. Holding the groundbreaking 67 years later symbolizes what tribal leaders describe as a powerful reclamation of sovereignty, identity and place.
Republic FC Stadium is scheduled to open in 2027 and will serve as the club’s permanent home. Organizers also envision the venue as a premier space for concerts, cultural festivals and community gatherings.

Fans will be able to secure priority seat selection for the 2027 season starting today by placing a deposit. Deposits begin at $9.16, with each reservation also contributing to the development of new mini-soccer pitches across the region. Since 2019, Republic FC has built 12 safe, free-play courts, with more planned in the years ahead.
Further updates on construction milestones and community engagement are expected in the coming months.
