AGC of California to ‘Stand Down’ for mental health awareness May 19

The Associated General Contractors of California (AGC of California), Teichert Construction, Operating Engineers Local 3 and Loyalty Point Leadership will hold a mental health awareness “Stand Down” and call on the construction industry to recognize the importance of mental health for workers’ safety and well-being.

The stand down recognizes May as Mental Health Awareness Month.

Teichert will halt construction for one hour as speakers explain how to recognize the signs and symptoms of substance abuse and mental health disorders and what resources are available for help. Additionally, a veteran construction worker will share his personal story about mental health.

The event will happen May 19 from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at the San Benito Route 156 improvement project located at the intersection of San Juan Hollister Road & Mission Vineyard Road San Juan Bautista.

Speakers will include leaders from AGC of California, Teichert Construction, Operating Engineers Local. They will address construction crews at an active worksite as they pause to learn about the importance of mental health care.
