Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin visited construction workers at the $360 million Hollywood Casino project last week and gave them top marks for progress.
“You’re on time, within budget, and you have passed 100 per cent of inspections,” Irvin said at the site. “You get an A+ for that.”
POWER Construction is the contractor on the project at Farnsworth Avenue and Bilter Road. It will replace the current riverboat casino on the Fox River in downtown Aurora, and will include a 12,000-square-foot event center, 1,000-car parking garage, seven-story hotel and a casino with 1,200 gaming stations.
Scheduled for completion in 2026, the 220-room hotel will be Aurora’s first four-star hotel and the tallest building built in the city in 50 years.
Scheduled for completion in 2026, the new Hollywood Casino resort by PENN Entertainment will have a 12,000-square-foot event center, a 1,000-car parking deck, a retail sportsbook, a full-service spa and several dining options.
The new location of the city’s Hollywood Casino, along Farnsworth Avenue and Bilter Road will replace the casino currently in downtown Aurora.
Aurora Chief Development Officer John Curley thanked Penn Entertainment and POWER Construction for working with local subcontractors on the project and for supporting local businesses.
“I really want to thank all of the team members for running such a smooth job and helping our local economy in the way that they have so conscientiously,” he said.
