Chicago-based Englewood starts construction on restaurant and food service projects around nation

Chicago-based Englewood Construction announced Nov. 9 that it has recently started construction on two Outback Steakhouse restaurants in Illinois and three food service facilities for US Foods in California, after the completion of an Olive Garden Italian Restaurant in Utah and a new Trader Joe’s in Iowa.

According to Englewood president William Di Santo, working with repeat clients on a variety of projects shows the commercial construction firm’s expertise in successfully delivering projects across America.

“These jobs also reflect the strength we’re observing in the food and drink industry as the economy continues its upward trend,” said Di Santo. “National restaurant chains are seizing opportunities to add locations, while grocery brands and food service companies are also expanding their footprints and enhancing facilities to match growth in the market.”

In Mainstreet Square Shopping Center at Southwest Chicago’s Downer’s Grove, Englewood has begun building a 6,882-sq. ft. Outback Steakhouse which is slated to open next year. GHA Architecture from Dallas designed the project.

Another branch of the restaurant measuring 6,524 sq. ft. will also be constructed by the firm at Sherwood Plaza in Springfield.. Englewood was tapped by hospitality company Bloomin’ Brands to work with project designer, Lexington’s The Roberts Group.

Construction has also commenced on three food service facilities in Hanover MD, La Mirada CA and Phoenix, AZ. Hired by U.S. Foods, Inc., the firm will overhaul three tests kitchen and training facilities. The projects are scheduled for completion early in 2018, with the facilities accommodating up-to-date kitchen equipment and new spaces.

Based on the design by ESI Design Services, the 7,761-sq. ft. Hanover office will be converted into a test kitchen, conference room, storage room, open office and product evaluation areas. Meanwhile in Phoenix and La Mirada, the architect’s design will bring a new test kitchen, conference rooms, training rooms and food prep area in the existing 6,775-sq. ft.building.

In October 2017, Englewood wrapped up construction on a 7,794-sq. ft. Olive Garden Italian Restaurant in Spanish Fork, UT; and on Trader Joe’s second store in Coralville, IA which has an area of 13,002 sq. ft.
