ConsensusDocs, a coalition of 40 design and construction industry associations, announced today its recently elected 2017 Contract Content Advisory Council leadership (aka Drafting Council). Joanne S. Brooks, vice-president and counsel for The Surety and Fidelity Association of America (SFAA), was elected as chair. She represents SFAA on the Drafting Council. Robert P. Majerus, vice-president and general counsel at Hensel Phelps Construction Co., Inc. was elected as vice-chair. Majerus represents AGC on the Drafting Council.
“I am honored to have been elected as chair of the ConsensusDocs coalition,” Brooks said in a statement. “The SFAA’s participation in this coalition is a natural extension of our mission, as surety bonds protect both the design and construction industries. I look forward to advancing industry efforts to improve fair contract terms and address today’s most pressing issues through this unique coalition effort.”
Each of ConsensusDocs’s participating organizations possesses an equal vote in approving proposed industry standard contract documents. The chair and vice-chair help facilitate each organization’s voice to be heard in creating fair documents that benefit the AEC industry as whole rather than a segment of the industry.
