Cummins Inc.’s nine-story global distribution headquarters has been awarded the highest honor, the Monumental Award, during the Indy Chamber’s Monumental Awards annual gala last Oct. 19 held at the Indiana Roof Ballroom.
The building at 301 E. Market St. in downtown Indianapolis has been selected by the Monumental Awards Committee, a jury composed of local community and professional leaders. It is spearheaded by its chairman Mario Rodriguez, the executive director of Indianapolis Airport Authority.
“The Monumental Awards are intended to showcase the vision and talents of Indy’s design, engineering and construction industries as the cornerstone of our region’s built environment,” says Rodriguez in a statement. He points out that Cummins’ headquarters is the “perfect representation” of the said vision and design.
Other awardees in the field of construction are the Community Cancer Center North and the Indianapolis Zoo Bicentennial Pavilion and Promenade. In architecture, the Julia M. Carson Transit Center and Irsa Family YMCA at City Way have also been given recognition by the Chamber.
Meanwhile, for engineering, the organization has awarded Liberty Fund Inc.; for innovative reuse, Eagledale Senior Apartments, Center Grove Innovation Center and Tinker House; for interior design, Indiana Spine Hospital and United Way of Central Indiana Headquarters; for neighborhood revitalization, Flanner House Flower Garden and Outreach Inc.; for landscape architecture, Fisher Municipal Complex Redevelopment; for public art, Millersville Marker, Seeds of Light and Duty-Honor-Sacrifice; and for real estate development, The Coil.
The annual Chamber’s Monumental Awards have recognized excellence for 40 years in different fields including architecture, engineering, neighborhood revitalization and construction.
