Wayne J. Griffin Electric, Inc. recently honored a new group of employees who earned their Associate of Applied Science in Engineering Technology degrees from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. The graduation, which took place this past December, marks the third cohort of Griffin Electric employees to complete the program.
The company celebrated the Class of 2024 graduates at a breakfast event earlier this spring. During the ceremony, graduates were presented with their Wentworth diplomas, an event live-streamed for family and friends. Several employees from the company’s Southeast regional offices also participated remotely. As a token of recognition for their hard work and dedication, Griffin Electric gifted each student a Wentworth Alumni jacket and a gift bag.
Representatives from both Wentworth and Griffin Electric, including company President Wayne Griffin, addressed the graduates. Speakers acknowledged the commitment required to balance full-time work responsibilities with academic pursuits and commended the students on their achievements. Many students in the Class of 2024 graduated with Latin honors, achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Griffin Electric initiated its partnership with Wentworth in 2018, offering the associate degree program to licensed graduates of its in-house Apprenticeship Training Program. The company supports its employees by covering up to 70% of tuition costs for the Wentworth program. Students enter the Wentworth program having already earned nearly half of the required credits through Griffin Electric’s apprenticeship program.
“The company has always been committed to doing whatever it can to provide its employees with opportunities to further their personal and career development,” the news release stated.
“This Associate degree program is just one of the many ways Griffin Electric aims to help its team members to achieve their goals and reach their full potential.”
