Hyde Hall project receives $100,000 energy efficiency contribution

The University of Evansville expects to begin work on the $8 million Hyde Hall renovation next May, with construction to be completed in the fall of 2019, and has received a commitment of $100,000 from the Vectren Foundation to increase the building’s energy efficiency.

The school says the donation will help fund upgrades such as new heating, ventilation, cooling systems and new windows, Inside INdiana Business reports. Vectren Corp. South president Brad Ellsworth says the Hyde Hall project addresses two of the company’s major areas of interest: efficiency and education. He says the effort is a win for the classroom as well, saying “a better-controlled energy environment will help reduce energy costs.”

The building houses Shanklin Theatre, the administrative offices for the William L. Ridgway College of Arts and Sciences as well as other faculty offices, classrooms and learning spaces.
