Marty McGee leads CAGC as chair in 2017

Carolinas Associated General Contractors (CAGC) 2017 chair Marty McGee has outlined some of the “exciting things CAGC is involved in on behalf of members” this year.

King, vice-president of King Asphalt, Inc., based in Liberty SC, has taken the association’s helm from Edison Cassels.

  • Hosting the sold-out CAGC 2017 Annual Convention (Jan. 25-29 in St. Thomas);
  • Hosting the 2017 Summer Divisions Conference and Industry Summit (July 27-30 in Myrtle Beach) – expecting another sell-out;
  • Gearing up for great turnouts for our 60-plus events, including four new Executive Luncheons in Charlotte, as well as popular CAGC Connect events in South Carolina (Charleston, Columbia, and Greenville), and in North Carolina (Wilmington, Rocky Mount, Raleigh, Charlotte and Asheville);
  • Looking forward to another productive year for our five lobbyists in Raleigh and Columbia in seeking infrastructure funding, and with our teammates from AGC of America and ARTBA on Capitol Hill;

  • Implementing CAGC’s answer for the labor shortage – a new “CAGC Build Your Career” program to connect the construction industry with students in high schools, middle schools, career fairs and community colleges;
  • Offering members the opportunity to get face to face with state leaders at the SC and NC CAGC Legislative Days in Columbia and Raleigh, as well as with national leaders at Capitol Hill visits with our national partners;
  • Delivering a lean, mean budget (for the third straight year) for our CAGC operations; and
  • Continuing to offer education and training programs, job leads, leadership programs, community involvement opportunities, all to assist you in building your business today and in years to come.

“Obviously, there is much work to be done, but I feel confident that it’s a task well worth the effort,” McGee said in his statement. “I’m also confident that we have the right people, in the right places, at the right time, to be successful; this includes the membership, leadership and staff. With all of us working together for the common good, 2017 will be a defining moment in the history of CAGC.”
