Miami-based real estate developer Ytech has broken ground on a 70-story tower in Brickell that will generate its own solar power, making it the first of its kind in the world.
The tower, designed by ACPV Architects in collaboration with Arquitectonica, will feature a 20,000-sq. ft. “solar backbone” integrated into its glass facade. This innovative design will incorporate photovoltaic panels, enabling the building to generate 175 MWh of electricity annually, which is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by around 4,700 tons and save the equivalent of 3,000 barrels of oil each year.
John Moriarty & Associates is serving as the project’s general contractor.
Standing at approximately 861 feet, the new skyscraper will become one of the tallest buildings currently under construction in Miami. During its build-out, construction cranes will soar to over 1,000 feet.
The development will include 195 residential units and 80,000 sq. ft. of amenity space, marking a significant milestone in both sustainable design and Miami’s ever-growing skyline.
