Redmond Construction Corp (RCC) says it has established the Building the Next Generation Scholarship Fund, benefitting the City Colleges of Chicago Foundation.
RCC partnered with City Colleges of Chicago Foundation to establish a scholarship program for low-income women studying in the construction management program at Kennedy-King College in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood.
At an event at the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel on June 8, RCC announced that with the support of sponsors and attendee donations more than $7,000 had been raised and committed to the colleges foundation for the 2018 academic year.
By directing resources toward the college-to-careers pipeline, RCC hopes to encourage more women to pursue educational opportunities that will lead to fulfilling careers in this industry, the company said in a news release
“We’d like to see scholarship recipients become future candidates for jobs with RCC,” company president John Redmond said in a statement.
The first round of scholars will be chosen for the Spring 2018 semester and professional development opportunities with scholarship recipients, including a luncheon at the RCC office with other industry leaders, will be coordinated as well.
