Timmons Group, a civil engineering and technology firm based in Richmond, VA, says its new headquarters at the Springline at District 60 development in Chesterfield County will be powered, in part, by a 126 kW solar energy system facilitated through Dominion Energy Solutions’ On-Site Solar Program.
The new solar project ensures that Timmons Group’s offices in the 150,000 sq. ft. Class A building will be net zero in energy consumption.
The solar installation is anticipated to produce 156,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy annually, offsetting 122 tons of CO₂ emissions—a meaningful contribution to both the local community and the environment, Timmons Group said in a Jan. 14 statement. Dominion Energy Solutions structured its On-Site Solar for Organizations program under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), “ensuring low-cost, reliable energy and long-term savings,” the statement says.
“Our new facility reflects both our growth and our commitment to sustainability,” said Brian Bortell, president and CEO of Timmons Group. “Partnering with Dominion Energy Solutions’ new On-Site Solar Program allowed us to implement a renewable energy solution that benefits our business, our employees, and our community.”

Chesterfield County Public Schools and the Department of Economic Development, as previously announced, will also occupy office space within the The Springline at District 60 mixed-use development.
“This significant development is part of the master plan approved in 2022, transforming the former Spring Rock Green Plaza site on Midlothian Turnpike into a premier community featuring retail, residential, office, and entertainment spaces,” the statement says.
“The decision by Timmons Group to power their new headquarters with on-site solar energy is an example of the corporate leadership they bring to Chesterfield County,” said Garrett Hart, Director of Chesterfield Economic Development. “Having an environmentally sustainable facility is a great fit for the mixed-use Springline at District 60 development, which will feature walking trails and abundant green space.”
The new facility is the next step in Timmons Group’s contribution to the region and will help achieve the firm’s goal of creating long-term energy solutions for the communities it serves. The Dominion Energy solar project is queued up for local distribution to the building’s tenants in early 2025.
