Officials from TTM Technologies (TTM) held a beam signing ceremony today at the site of its new manufacturing facility in Central New York. The announcement comes during Manufacturing Month, which highlights the industry’s contributions to the state and nation.
TTM is building a manufacturing structure on approximately 23 acres adjacent to its existing production site in the Town of DeWitt, Onondaga County.
The company plans to invest up to $130 million in the new facility, which is expected to create an additional 400 good-paying jobs, bringing its Central New York workforce to 1,000. TTM will produce Ultra-High Density Interconnect (UHDI) printed circuit boards (PCBs) primarily for U.S. military applications. The facility will also focus on research and development to integrate substrate and UHDI PCB technologies across the United States.
“TTM’s investment in our state is proof that New York is doing it right — attracting the best companies today leads to the rebirth of manufacturing across the state, creating better-paying jobs for the future,” New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a statement. “This project will create good-paying manufacturing jobs and make vital equipment for military applications right here in Central New York.
TTM Technologies President and CEO Thomas Edman said: “TTM is honoured to have the support and leadership of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Governor Hochul. Our new state-of-the-art facility will deliver trusted, domestically sourced advanced UHDI printed circuit boards, helping to fill the capacity void the Department of Defense is facing.”
The planned facility will be one of the largest advanced PCB manufacturing sites in North America, designed for shorter lead times and faster delivery while increasing domestic capacity. It will also be among TTM’s most sustainable facilities in North America, contributing to the growth of the domestic semiconductor industry, driven by Governor Hochul and the Biden-Harris Administration’s CHIPS and Science Act.
To support the construction, New York State, through Empire State Development, will provide up to $17 million in performance-based Excelsior Jobs Tax Credits in exchange for the creation of 400 new jobs and the retention of over 600 existing jobs. Additionally, TTM will receive a $5 million capital grant from the Upstate Revitalization Initiative for machinery and equipment, along with a $30 million grant from the Department of Defense.
