To raise awareness for domestic violence and to celebrate January as “Stalking Awareness Month”, Venture Construction Group of Florida (VCGFL) will host a fundraiser with Kendra Scott on Dec. 13 from 6pm to 9pm at Kendra Scott, Mizner Park at 411 Plaza Real, Boca Raton.
The event, Kendra Gives Back Party, will be open to the public, with drinks and desserts prepared for shoppers. Out of the total sales made the day, 20 percent will be donated to Gemma’s Angels Foundation Boca Raton. The proceeds will then be matched by Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse (AVDA).
“It’s so important to continuously raise awareness about domestic violence. This is a tragic and pervasive issue that isn’t going to magically disappear. It doesn’t just affect one person, it affects the entire family, it affects so many,” said Sandra Lawson, operations director at VCGFL and co-founder of Gemma’s Angels Foundation.
“We invite everyone in the community to stop by this event, shop and help raise money for a very necessary cause,” said VCGFL CEO and president Stephen Shanton.
The Gemma’s Angels Foundation is an organization promoting awareness and ending domestic violence. It honors victim Gemma Burlakoff by fighting to save her children. In 2013, Gemma was caught in a violent dispute with her husband while protecting their kids. She was murdered in their presence.
Meanwhile, AVDA is a state-certified domestic violence center that provides emergency shelter, crisis counseling, food, clothing, individual and group counseling services to adults and children. They are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
