Work has begun on the Noblesville Fieldhouse, a 130,000-sq.ft. sports facility for young people being co-developed by the city government and Klipsch-Card Athletic Facilities, LLC.
Upon completion, the $15 million public-private project is expected to deliver five courts with hardwood flooring, a 75,000-sq.ft. indoor turf equipped with batting equipment, and a 10,000-sq.ft. physical therapy center. High-definition cameras will also be installed around sports areas to provide visitors with a closer preview during games.
The Noblesville Fieldhouse will also include indoor and outdoor spaces for concessionaires, and a second-floor balcony overlooking a playground area. Operations, as well as marketing and scheduling rentals, will be handled by the project’s private developer.
The facility will rise on a 10-ac. parcel located within Finch Creek Park. Its development has been divided into multiple phases, with the first phases concentrating on the 203-ac. park’s southeast portion.
To cover the city’s share of the project cost, Noblesville has pledged to pay $600,000 in new revenues and $200,000 in new dollars each year. Funds will be sourced from the facility’s property taxes and rental fees, not from the general fund. It will also offset the price of the project site to $1 million.
“Our residents east of State Road 37 deserve to have a community place with amenities closer to home,” said Noblesville Mayor John Ditslear. “Had the land remained only a city park, there would be zero property tax dollars generated, so this project nearly pays for itself.”
According to a press release, the court space will be rented out to the Boys & Girls Club of Noblesville every weekend.
