Chicago has issued a $45 million building permit to American Airlines (AA) to construct a new Ground Equipment Maintenance (GEM) structure at O’Hare Airport.
The permit says the building will be two one-story wings of work bays serving AA and Envoy Groups, with a middle business area sandwiched between the work bays.
General contractor F.H. Paschen/S.N. Nielson has done much work for American Airlines and other O’Hare Airport projects.
Subcontractors for the project include: Electrical — Block Electric Company; masonry — All Masonry Const. Co. Inc.; plumbing — Abitua Plumbing, Inc.; refrigeration and ventilation — Roberts Environmental Control.
F.H. Paschen/S.N. Nielson is also building a new $18 million Airport Maintenance Complex (AMC) annex building at the airport for the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) to house snow removal equipment.
The new 90,000-sq. ft. building is being erected next to the existing AMC on O’Hare’s south airfield.
