California has received more than $61.5 billion in funding through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to boost infrastructure projects over the past three years. The funding, allocated since the law’s passage in 2021, is dedicated to thousands of projects aimed at improving transportation, water systems, clean energy, and public services across the state.
The largest federal infrastructure initiative in California since the 1980s includes funding for roadways, bridges, public transit, clean energy, broadband expansion, and environmental projects, with additional support from the Biden-Harris Administration’s Inflation Reduction Act contributing $3 billion.
Funding includes:
- Roads and Bridges: $24.4 billion
- Public Transit: $22 billion
- Water, Climate, and Environmental Resilience: $6.9 billion
- Broadband: $4 billion
- Energy Efficiency and Clean Energy: $1.4 billion
- Airports, Ports, and Waterways: $2.8 billion
“This investment will strengthen California’s infrastructure for the future and ensure that we meet the challenges of a growing population and a changing climate,” Newsom said.
The federal funds will pay for infrastructure upgrades in the coming years. For more information on specific projects, residents can visit build.ca.gov.
