Citadel Center gets $208.6 retrofit for Constellation Brands

If the $208.6 million building permit value isn’t a typo, the renovation job within the Citadel Center at 131 S. Dearborn will prove to be a truly substantial retrofit job.

The permit issued on Aug. 24 says: “Interior alterations to existing office space on floors 12, 21, 22, 23 and 24 as per plan. Includes work in new cafeteria and kitchen. New convenience stair. Structural peer review included.”

Skender Construction LLC is the general contractor. Subtrades include: ElectricalMaron Electric Company; plumbingDoherty Mechanical, Inc.; and ventilationF.E. Moran.

The owner is listed as Crown Imports LLC, which according to Bloomberg, “imports, distributes, and markets fine beers and ciders in the United States.” The company operates as a subsidiary of Constellation Brands Inc.

Crain’s Chicago Business reported in April 2016, that the beer division of Constellation Brands was about to lease about 130,000 sq. ft. in the 1.5 million-sq. ft. tower.
