Local Initiatives Support Corporation Indianapolis is encouraging more applications and nominations for the Love They Neighborhood Awards to be held April 26, 2018 at the Indiana War Memorial, 431 N Meridian St., Indianapolis.
Five awards will be given to a person, project, initiative or organization that has contributed to the transformation of a neighborhood, positively impacting the community’s livability, opportunity, vitality and education (LOVE).
Livability Award recognizes those with a long-standing commitment to healthy communities, such as organizations that developed communities where residents have daily access to art, nature, recreation and beauty.
Opportunity Award will be given to those that demonstrate a focus on building human capital, supporting existing businesses and redeveloping commercial property for use of new businesses.
Vitality Award honors those that helped to retain and attract residents to under-populated communities, resulting to diversified household income level, enhanced density and prosperity for communities and the city.
Education Award will be presented to those that contributed to the improvement of learning opportunities in communities. Winner can also be a neighborhood that offers an array of quality educational opportunities to its residents.
The fifth award, which is the People’s Choice LOVE Award, will be given to a winner selected by a majority vote of those present during the LOVE thy Neighborhood Gala. Recipient will be selected from the 12 finalists from each of the first four categories.
Winners from each of the LOVE categories will receive $2,500 in cash, while the winner of the People’s Choice award will be given $5,000.
