Prosperity Indiana, formerly known as the Indiana Association for Community Economic Development, invites interested individuals to join the 2018 Prosperity Indiana Summit and Statehouse Day which will center on community health and development.
Statehouse Day, the first part of the two-day event, will be held January 23, 2018 at the Indiana Statehouse, 200 East Washington St., Indianapolis.
It is called Prosperity IN Action based on the organization’s philosophy that the strength of its advocacy lies in their members and partners acting together to promote policies supporting development of Hoosier communities.
“Join us at the Indiana Statehouse as we urge lawmakers to act on critical policy priorities in support of community development efforts statewide, including clarifying affordable housing property tax ememption, defending key programs in the budget, protecting consumers, and strengthening asset building opportunities for low-income Hoosier families,” Prosperity Indiana stated in their website.
Meanwhile, the organization’s Summit is slated January 23, 2018 at the Sheraton Indianapolis City Centre Hotel, 31 West Ohio St., Indianapolis. Sessions will feature the following topics: Leveraging Affordable Housing Policy for Healthy Communities; Transit and Community Health; Active Living Workshops; Perspectives on Building Health Places; Your House is Making You Sick; Using Community Health Needs Assessments to Engage Nonprofit Hospitals; Vacant Property Legal Assistance to Stabilize Neighborhoods; and Treating the Opioid Crisis at the Neighborhood Level.
Plenary remarks will be given by David Erickson, community development finance director at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.
Prosperity Indiana encourages community-based organizations, state and local government officials, financial institutions, health professionals, home builders, developers, community leaders and community prosperity advocates to attend.
