Milestone starts work on $61 million I-74 reconstruction

Milestone is starting work on a $61 million I-74 reconstruction project under Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb’s Next Level Roads Plan.

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) says a groundbreaking for the construction will be held Aug. 7 at 1:30 p.m. at the I-74 eastbound rest stop near Batesville, eaglecountyonline.com reports. It is the first Next Level project in INDOT’s Southeast District.

The reconstruction of I-74 will take place in Ripley, Franklin, and Decatur counties over the next 2½ years. In addition to pavement replacement, the work will include new bridges at Little Laughery Creek and Western Creek.

Construction operations slated for late-summer and fall of this year will focus on patching, shoulder strengthening, widening and building crossovers for future traffic shifts.
