Several unions and joint training committees are inviting applications for apprenticeships around the state.
In some cases, there are a small number of opportunities, and in others, the “open period” to apply is short, but the list outlined in a series of news releases by the New York State Department of Labor is extensive.
As an example, the The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for Operating Engineers, Local Union #30, will conduct a recruitment from Feb. 6 through February 17, 2017 for 25 stationary engineer apprentices. (Candidates need to be good at math.)
In another opportunity, The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for Westchester and Putnam Construction Craft Laborers, Local Union #60, will conduct a recruitment  through January 16, 2017 for 10 skilled construction craft laborer apprentices
