Plaza Construction contributes $180,000 to Voices for Children Foundation

Plaza Construction presented a check for $180,000 to Voices For Children Foundation, Inc. at the company’s 11th Annual Golf Invitational at La Gorce Country Club  in Miami Beach on April 3.

Accepting the check from tournament host and foundation board member Brad Meltzer, president of Plaza’s Southeast Region, were Voices For Children Foundation’s Nelson Hincapie, president and CEO, and foundation board chair Jay Shapiro, a shareholder at Stearns Weaver Miller, P.A.

The foundation enables the Guardian ad Litem Program to recruit, train and support volunteers to serve as the “Voice” for abused, abandoned and neglected children by advocating for their best interests in dependency court proceedings. Voices’ financial support also helps fulfill the children’s medical, educational and social needs in Miami-Dade.

With more than 130 supporters participating including 104 golfers, the tournament’s Platinum Sponsors included Baker Concrete, Capform, Nagelbush Mechanical, and Power Design. The tournament’s Silver Sponsors included Coastal Masonry, Dynalectric, Epsylon USA, GMP Glazing, Monark Appliances, Sprinklermatic, SVP Tile & Marble, and Zarella Construction.

Plaza says since April 2015, it’s Annual Golf Invitational has raised nearly half a million dollars benefiting Voices For Children Foundation. In January, Meltzer and his wife, Suzanne, chaired and hosted the Voices For Children Foundation’s 21st Annual “Be A Voice, Be A Light Gala” presented by Harry Winston, Inc. which raised more than $700,000 for children in Miami-Dade County.

“On behalf of Plaza Construction and our many sponsors and supporters, we are proud to continue our support for Voices For Children Foundation,” Meltzer said in a statement. “Based on the foundation’s outstanding work, we are confident that these funds will help reshape children’s lives throughout Miami-Dade.”

Hincapie, president and CEO of Voices For Children, said: “Plaza Construction has been instrumental in our efforts to break the cycles of abuse and neglect. Plaza helps us build new futures for young people who unfortunately end up in foster care. We couldn’t be prouder of what we can do together.”
