More than 650 representatives from North and South Carolina, Georgia and Virginia, and various federal agencies, are gathering Oct. 24 to 25 at the Wilmington Convention Center for the 2017 Southeast Region Federal Construction, Infrastructure and Environmental Summit.
The summit features special guests including Karen Baker, US Army Corps of Engineers chief of environmental division, Naval Facilities Engineering Command (Southeast) commanding officer Captain Patrick Garin and Military Integration Division, USACE South Atlantic Division chief Torkild Brunso.
Federal agencies attending the event are the South Atlantic Division of the Corps of Engineers, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Fort Bragg, Marine Corps Installations East also known as Camp Lejeune, Seymour Johnson AFB, Fort Gordon, Fort Lee, US Coast Guard, Department of Veteran Affairs, and the General Services Administration.
The US Army Corps of Engineers divisions from Savannah, Charleston, Wilmington and Norfolk as well as the USACE Corps Headquarters from Washington D.C., the South Atlantic Division Headquarters in Atlanta, and Naval Facilities Engineering Command branches from Norfolk and Jacksonville are also present.
Exhibitors include general and specialty contractors, designers and construction suppliers from the Southeast region.
“The summit networking and trade show activities allow businesses to market their services and products directly to over 650 military, federal and industry participants,” said Scott Dorney, executive director of the North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC).
Dorney says that construction-related businesses that are already engaged or are planning to tap the federal market “need” to join the summit.
Aside from the “Meet and Greet” sessions that allow businesses to market themselves to federal agencies and prime contractors, a part of the summit is dedicated to discussing future projects, acquisition strategies and project execution of military bases and government facilities in the Southeast, with a panel of military and government officials.
The summit is hosted by the NCMBC and the offices of Sen. Richard Burr and Sen. Thom Tillis.
